I will never forget working in a newly appointed leadership position in the higher education sector during COVID and trying my best to go after my LIVE BIG DREAM in the cracks in between. The higher education sector was not one of the industries hitting the snooze button…everything that was known had to be flipped. There were times when there were whole days on zoom and moments when I never left my computer. I was finding it increasingly difficult to have the bandwidth or energy to even focus on LIVE BIG DREAMS. I was out of alignment, bound by time and more often than not in my relationships and life I was not present.
I will never forget the moment it all changed.
At the end of that year at the Women of Achievement Luncheon, I was interviewing an incredible woman who had left her corporate world behind and stepped fully into work that made her soul thrive. I asked her the question… how did you know it was the right time to LIVE BIG, the moment she knew she had to leap… the moment she decided to step into the unknown and back LIVE BIG DREAM fully.
There was a long pause… I could feel her vulnerability pricking at the back of my neck as the words tumbled out of her mouth. “I just knew I had to go, I got to the point where going to work every day I could feel my soul dying little by little until the whispers were roaring at me, go”.
My heart stopped… as I looked out over the audience…I was observing how it was landing but was also looking to see if the audience could feel how deeply her words hit me… I left that day no longer prepared for my LIVE BIG DREAMS to die slowly as I poured my heart and energy into someone else’s dream or wait another decade to actualize it.
