A breathing space can take anywhere between three seconds to three minutes - or longer if needed! Focusing on 7 mindful breaths anchors us back into the safety of our nervous system.

It is a great way to check in with ourselves and is particularly useful when dealing with a stressful or distressing moment. The deliberate focus on the breath firstly and then the whole body sensations, and then other present moment experiences can interrupt being stuck in a cycle of thinking and emotions both of which can 'turn up' our level of distress.
